from 1994-2025
Photon emerged from the Copenhagen electronic music scene in the mid-1990s. They discovered their passion for projection art and light installations among other creatively skilled individuals of that time. Embracing the moment and culture, they collectively defined the Copenhagen electronic scene for many years.
The Bubble Story?
Photon drew inspiration from the pioneers of psychedelic projections from the 1960s, now considering themselves third-generation Blopmasters. Mastering this art form requires years of practice, establishing workshops for equipment construction, producing artwork and graphics, and mastering the science of optics and electronics. In the past, this art form was the sole method for visual performances at events.
Become a beliver
The colors of transparent liquids fading from dark to light by increasing the distance between two layers of glass are simply impossible to reproduce on a computer. You have to see this to believe it!
The rules of analog
Old-school psychedelic analog projections are based on live performance of elements within the content. These projections are genuine and do not appear to the viewer in pixels but in molecular resolution. This dogma dictates using materials that are transparent, clear, and sharp, or at least leave gaps between parts to allow light to pass through. Materials adhering to this dogma could include liquids, glass, slides, perforated surfaces, mercury and dust.
digital layer
As digital options emerged over the years, Photon eagerly embraced this equipment and integrated the digital layer into their artwork.
